Art in Parks – Photo Walk

In honor of Arts, Culture and Creativity Month in California, we are hosting a series of “Art in Parks” events this April. On Saturday, April 23rd, 2-4pm, join Erin Thiem (Visit Nevada City, Outside Inn and Inn Town Campground) for a 2-hour photo walk at Empire Mine State Historic Park. Tour the amazing grounds of California’s most successful hard rock mine. The Secret Room, Bourn Cottage, Rose Garden, Fountains and more.

Meet at Empire Mine Visitors Center, 10791 East Empire Street, Grass Valley.
$5 Park Fee
Capacity limited to 25. Email sierragoldparks@gmail.com to sign up.
Bring your camera, wear comfortable walking shoes, and pack some water. If you forget, water is available at the Visitors Center.

Highlights include:

Empire Cottage, designed by famed architect Willis Polk – with its stately gardens and fountains

The impressive Clubhouse, built in 1905 to entertain business magnates from all over the world

The Mine yard where the ore from the mine was processed into gold bars

The Mine Shaft, where visitors can sit on an actual man skip that transported the miners underground

The Blacksmith Shop, Machine Shop, and other buildings were the “hubs” of Empire Mine’s success
